Art Enthusiasts: Here Is an Exhibition in Pune That You Must Visit

Published ahead of her exhibition The Poetry of Gaia at the Raja Ravi Varma Gallery, Pune (25–30 June 2024), this Q&A has Puneeta explaining the show's title: Gaia, Mother Nature in Greek mythology, standing in for the subtle textures — rock, soil, cloud, leaf — that shape how we feel.

She talks through her range of mediums — watercolour, oil, colour pencils, oil pastels and dry pigments — and why watercolour in particular feels meditative to her.

Asked about influences, she names V. S. Gaitonde, Cy Twombly, Van Gogh, Bridget Riley and Gerhard Richter as artists whose handling of colour she admires.

She closes by connecting the work to the present climate emergency, describing her nature-based abstractions as a way of building awareness while also offering viewers a sense of peace and healing.
