Sketches

A collection of small pencil sketches made wherever I happen to be. I sketch my surroundings as a way of documenting the everyday—the plants in my house, trees around me, boxes by a window, fragments of what I see, and even abstract, passing thoughts and how the light magically falls on different things on different times of the day or different seasons.

Nothing feels too small or too ordinary to hold my attention. These sketches are about becoming aware of the mundaneness of everyday life and looking at it from a slightly different, more curious angle.

They are not always studies for finished works, but a quiet and instinctive part of my practice, where ideas can remain open, curious and unresolved.

For me, sketching is less a discipline than a way of being—of paying attention, noticing, and finding something interesting in what is around me.
